Playing in the Sugar Cane Fields

I was so playful when I was a kid. I personally believed that I had a lot of enjoyable moments at that time.

I lived in Sragi, a small village in the border of Pekalongan Regency. Sragi was famous of its sugar factory. Long time ago, Holland established the factory in my lovely village. No wonder, the surrounding of Sragi was full of sugar cane fields.
As a kid, I spent my day by playing all along the day. I had some close friends to play with. It was a windy day so my friends and I decided to play a kite. We went to the back of one of my friends’ house. There was a sugar cane field behind the house. We decided to play the kite there. The wind was so great as it could fly our kite easily. On the other side of the field, we could see another kite fly. Thus, a battle between our kite and their kite could not be avoided. Fortunately, we won the battle as their kite was cut. The kite flew down, it goes without saying. Then, we chased the kite since someone who caught the kite first would be the new owner of the kite. My friend could catch the kite, so he was the next owner of the kite. After that, we took a rest in the side of the sugar cane field. We ate some sugar canes to restore our stamina.

Playing with my friends was my favorite activity when I was a kid. It was extremely fun, I guess.

What a Wonderful Prom Night

For me, there were no end of memorable experiences while I was a student of Senior High School. However, the most memorable one, I personally felt, was my last prom night.

I was in the third year of Senior High School at that time. My school, SMA N 1 Pekalongan, held a very special occasion to release the third year students. The great night begun at seven o’clock. All of the students gathered at the schoolyard that had been modified. There was a huge podium to hold such great performances. The audiences (the students and the teachers) were provided with a lot of neat seats to enjoy the show. At eight o’clock, the show was commenced. Some students performed singing and drama. On the other hand, my own class had our own drama performance. We did well on the drama since the audience really appreciated it. In the end, the prom night was closed with our pray for a better future. Then there was a firework show to end the party.

I was really excited to attend such a great prom night. However, I felt sad somehow, since I won’t meet my school friends anymore. Nevertheless, in overall, it was wonderful.

Fabulous Lebaran Day

My last Lebaran day was fabulous. I did a lot of enjoyable activities on the day. Though I didn’t go upstream (mudik), it was extremely fun.

First, I got up at five o’clock and did praying. Then, I ate no end of delicious food. There were opor, ketupat, and many more. I was almost full at that time. Mom cooked really well as there was no food left. After that, my family and I went to the mosque to do Idul Fitri pray. There, I met some old friends that rarely can be seen. They only came back to their village when Lebaran day came along. Next, we visited our family cemetery to pray for my grandmother who had passed away long time ago. I really missed grandma though I hadn’t ever seen her face directly. After going back to our house, we decided to take a rest for a while. Finally, we went to my aunt’s house and spent the rest of the day there.

I personally believed that Lebaran day was a special day for my family. On that day, we had time to meet and spend our day together. It was fabulous.

Visiting Bali

My most memorable vacation was visiting Bali. It happened when I sat in the eleventh grade of Senior High School. My school, SMA N 1 Pekalongan, held a study tour to Bali in the end of the second semester. Almost all of the students took part on the occasion.

Our first destination was Kuta Beach. The beach was very famous among tourists all over the world. It was very crowded as there were so many foreign and domestic tourists. I could find a lot of foreigners enjoying the beach. Some of them just did sunbathing; many others had surfing or just walked along the beach.

Next, we visited Bedugul. There was a vast lake with gorgeous scenery there. My friends and I decided to take a boat sailing across the lake. After that, we went sightseeing since the place was huge. There was a souvenir shop there. I bought some nice souvenirs for my little sister. There were some tattoo artists too. Some of my friends had temporary tattoos on them.

After paying a visit on some other tourism objects, we went back to Pekalongan. It was really fun.
